Will I be asked why I am booking when I call?

All of our staff taking calls are professionally trained and will put your confidentiality and peace of mind first. They will ask the reason for your booking as routine, but you don’t have to say why. However, it is always best to provide as much information as make sure we book you the right appointment with a member of staff who is able to help you first time. Anything you say will be confidential.

How confidential is your service?

Confidentiality is really important to the running of any sexual health service. There are strict laws about using, sharing, disclosing, storing and transferring patient-identifiable information. This means any personal information you provide us with will be held in the strictest confidence. Computerised information about our patients is coded and staff will only be able to access patient-identifiable information if needed for treatment and care. You have the right to get a copy of the information that is held about you. This is known as a subject access request. Find out how to request your personal information.

I’m embarrassed! What can I do?

Some people feel embarrassed talking about sex, that’s normal. But you don’t need to be embarrassed talking with us. All of our staff deal with sexual health issues every day and specialise in this area. Our staff will always be non-judgemental and respect your privacy and dignity.

Do I need book in advance?

No. All of our services run drop in clinics where you can turn up on the day. These can be very busy though so make you arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled end of the walk-in session time. During busy periods we may have to stop booking people in before the clinic is scheduled to close. You can find details of all our walk-in clinics on the local service pages.

Do I have to pay anything?

No. Virgin Care provides sexual health services under an NHS or Local Authority contract. This means that all of our services are free for you.

Our services are confidential, non-judgemental and for people of all ages, genders and orientations.
